"All The Wild Horses is a body of work often concerned with the recontextualization of the traditional figure in space. The work uses anatomy as a kind of ideological pivot point, as a reference. It attempts to show the way the body operates as a visual metaphor when it is reduced of any specific context; and how space, when something is or is not inside of it, can become exactly an object when we begin to understand the world as the way we see rather than the what we are seeing."

We described Matthew's work as hauntingly beautiful; "Thank you for your kind words, you work and work and work and when you think you've got something and step back and you can almost start to hear this storming old piano sounding off behind it and what you think you were just working on, what you think you were just deliberately creating isn't even there, something else is. So, when you say the work is haunting, I can appreciate it."
